Finding Friends |

Staying in touch is so much easier when friends and family are just a click away. The rising popularity of social networking sites makes it convenient to find people, keep in contact and maintain relationships. Generally, social networking sites allow users to create a profile for themselves. Simply upload a picture of yourself, create a profile and then you can be "friends" with other users. On most sites, both users must confirm that they are friends before they are linked. Usually, there are privacy controls that you choose who can view their profile or contact them, etc. Also, most networks have a search function to help you find people. Usually, you can search by name, area, high school, college or field of work. This is a great way to find people that you haven't talked to in years. Remember that kid that you sat next to in 7th grade? Chances are you'll find him on a social network. The most popular social networking site is myspace, but the once exclusive facebook is making a surge in popularity. Originally, facebook was only available to those with a valid college email address, but now, it's open to everyone. This site is much more organized and more private than myspace, and it's easy to find people, post pictures and stay in touch with friends and family. Other sites to network include hi5, yahoo and friendster. Check them all out, and decide which one is right for you.
