What do I need to install CB Home Run?

What you'll need:

  • CB Home Run Phone - The Nokia 6086
  • High-speed Internet connection
  • Wireless Networking router (WiFi) with a connected WiFi antenna

How do I install my Wireless Networking (WiFi) router in my home or office?

Install your new Wireless Internet (WiFi) router

If you have an existing WiFi router installed, proceed to Step 2.

Install your new Wireless Internet (WiFi) router following the setup instructions provided with the router. When setting up your router, you will be asked to choose a Network Name (SSID). You may also choose to set up a security password (WEP key). Please make note of this inforamtion for handy reference when setting up your CB Home Run phone in Step 2.

If you purchased a Tri-Link router from Cincinnati Bell, you will be able to use your CB Home Run phone after router is installed. No additional setup is needed.

Set-up Your CB Home Run Phone


First, be sure you have your Wireless Internet (WiFi) router installed (see step 1), and that your CB Home Run phone is fully charged. Go to the room where your WiFi router is installed and proceed with setup per the following instructions.

Screen A:

Enter into the WiFi Menu by pressing the Wi-Fi softkey button.

Screen B:

Press the Scroll DOWN button to highlight Available Networks, then Press SELECT. The handset will conduct a search for all WiFi networks that are in range.

Screen C:

Highlight your Network Name (SSID) (in this example "My Network Name") and press SELECT. If you don't see your network name see Hidden Networks.

Screen D:

If the WiFi network you are connecting to requires a security password (WEP key), the screen will prompt you to "ENTER KEY." Enter the password to connect.

Screen E:

The phone will ask if this WiFi network should be added to the saved networks. Select YES. Saved networks will have a star underneath the network name.

You are now ready to make calls!

The green dot at the top left of the screen indicates you are connected to WiFi.

Why does my battery seem to drain faster than normal?

The CB Home Run service will tend to drain the battery on your Nokia 6086 phone. To conserve talk time, you can turn off your phone WiFi antenna when you are not using a WiFi spot.

Press the WiFi > WiFi Radio, then press SELECT to turn WiFi off or on.

How do I access Hidden Networks?

Some WiFi networks may be hidden by the owner, and will not appear as an "Available Network". If you know the SSID and WEP key, you can access the network by following the steps outlined below.

Press the WiFi Menu button and select Available Networks >Options > Hidden Networks.
Enter the SSID and WEP key. Save the settings.

How do I change my Network Name?

To change a name for your saved networks, enter the WiFi menu, select Saved Networks > Options > Rename. Enter a new name on the keypad, select OK.
