How Does Fiber Work?
The fiber optic connection transmits data by sending pulses of light through a thin optical fiber, which is smaller in diameter and weighs less than a standard coaxial cable. This means the fiber can send large amounts of information over greater distances, and at much faster speeds. Also, the fiber-optic connection relays a digital broadcast signal with astonishing clarity, delivering a superior picture quality to standard cable.

*100 times faster claim based on avg. download connection speeds for United States, Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, as reported by Akamai Technologies Inc.’s 2014 Q1 “State of the Internet” report. Upload and download speeds are not symmetrical. Ridiculous claim is based on how ridiculously fast it can be. Speed can be slowed by older customer hardware or interface cards, slower external websites, network congestion, or other-than-physical connection to modem (most wireless modems and cellular devices could explode into flame before attaining 1Gbps; physical connection of device to modem will yield best results.)
