How do I reset my IP address?

On a rare occasion, it may be necessary to reset your Internet Protocol (IP) address. This is normally an issue that is seen in Windows computers. A simple guide is below (the guide assumes that you are starting from the desktop and have the latest updates for each operating system) : Windows 7/8/8.1/10

  1. Click on the “Start” button on the lower left hand corner (often a small round button).
  2. In the box labeled “Search files and programs” type “Command”
  3. Press the “Enter” key
  4. In the black box that appears type “ipconfig /release”

  5. Press the “Enter” key
  6. Information about the state of the network adapters will appear, afterwards you will have a blinking cursor again.
  7. At the cursor type “ipconfig /renew”
  8. Press the “Enter” key
  9. The screen will display the new IP address for the active network connection.
  10. To close the screen type “Exit”
