New Service Installation/Expectations

* Please note that when you change your Wi-Fi password and/or Network name any connected devices will no longer be connected to your network and you will need to search the new network name on those devices and/or enter your new network password.

Open a Web Browser

Enter 192.168.200.1 into the address bar and click enter

This will prompt you to enter a Username and Password. These is found on the back label of your gateway. They say Administrator Username and Administrator Password.

Find the Network Settings tab located on the bottom of the page and hoover over it
 
Select Wireless for the list of options

 
On the WiFi tab you will see your current WiFi Network Name (SSID) and Password.
 

 
Under Action you will see an Edit button. Click this to change your name and password.
 

 
Please note that when you change these two items any connected devices will no longer be connected to your network and you will need to search the new network name on those devices and enter your new network password.

*If you have our Premier Internet product and have a Wi-Fi booster attached to your Zyxel 4381 Gateway then these instructions will not apply. Since this is a more complex set up we recommend calling us at 513-565-2210.

Locate your data jack. It will look like one of these examples:
* If you are using an inside ONT (Optical Network Terminal), you will locate this unit instead of a data jack. This is installed where fiber wiring enters your home, and likely mounted to a basement wall; alternately in an office or closet.

1. Plug one end of the yellow Ethernet cable into your data jack, and the other into the ZyXEL 3415's blue Ethernet/WAN port.

2. Plug your ZyXEL 3415 power supply into your unit, and a nearby wall outlet.

3. If you are connecting to printers, hardwired PCs, etc., you will connect your Ethernet cables from those devices into these yellow Ethernet ports.

4. Your Internet light will turn solid green when start-up is complete. You are now connected to the Internet.

Internet service installation time frames vary depending on whether TV service is included, the type of Internet access ordered (e.g. ZoomTown or Fioptics) and layout of your home and existing inside and outside wiring. Upon arrival your Cincinnati Bell service technician will assess the variables and go over with you their plan of action. For Internet access, your technician will install a wireless gateway and in some situations an Optical Network Terminal. The technician will also ask you if you would like any other devices connected to the Internet besides your main computer or tablet.

Someone over the age of 18 must be present for the entire duration of the installation.

In order to install some equipment such as the ONT on the side of your home, drilling may be required for service.

Yes, we do require a landlord permission slip be filled out before installation of service can begin. The landlord permission slip can be found on your order confirmation email or by clicking here.

Do I need landlord permission to install service in my apartment or rental?

If Cincinnati Bell runs a new fiber line to your home to install Fioptics service, the technician may have to run a temporary line if the fiber needs to be buried underground to your home. Additionally, there may be a bore required to lay the fiber line beneath a hard surface including a driveway or sidewalk. The temporary line will be run to complete the standard installation of services and there will be a follow up visit from a Cincinnati Bell contractor, AMS, to bury the fiber line. You are not required to be home for the visit as all the work done will be outside your premises.

Typically it will be 15 business days for the appointment to bury the line and complete the installation.
