Cincinnati Bell Brings Covington Marine Home for the Holidays

December 23, 2013

CINCINNATI, Ohio – A U.S. Marine is spending Christmas with his family thanks to Cincinnati Bell, who sponsored his trip home.

Cpl. Tim Harpe was reunited with his wife, Kaelynn, and family in a surprise reunion in Covington, Ky., this past weekend. Cpl. Harpe was deployed to Afghanistan and wasn't expected to return until later next year. He and his wife are expecting their first child early next year.

"I'm so grateful to Cincinnati Bell for making my trip home possible," said Cpl. Harpe. "To be reunited with my wife and family just in time for Christmas is the greatest gift imaginable."

In addition to paying for Harpe's flight home, Cincinnati Bell also provided the family with two iPhone 5c smartphones (with a year of free service) and a Sony XPeriaTM tablet. The company will also provide free Fioptics installation and service to Cpl. Harpe and Kaelynn when they move back to the Tri-State.

"Cincinnati Bell has a long tradition of being active in our community," said Christi Cornette, senior vice president of Marketing for Cincinnati Bell. "We're proud that we were able to arrange for Cpl. Harpe and his wife to be together for the holidays." Cornette added that Cincinnati Bell plans to offer a similar holiday visit for another local military family next year.

Cincinnati Bell is a strong supporter of U.S. veterans and active military. In addition to contributing to the USO and Yellow Ribbon Support Foundation, the company sponsors a salute to a local military hero at every Cincinnati Reds home game, hosts a VIP Fireworks Party for local families who have lost a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan, and even dedicates the annual Cincinnati Bell/WEBN Fireworks show to those serving in the Armed Forces.
