Cincinnati Bell Congratulates Taft on Second Consecutive "Excellent" Rating from Ohio Dept. of Education

August 26, 2011

CINCINNATI, Ohio – For the second year in a row, Cincinnati's Taft Information Technology High School has earned a rating of "Excellent" on its Ohio Report Card from the Ohio Department of Education. Taft is one of three high schools in the Cincinnati Public Schools district to receive the "Excellent" rating for the 2010-2011 school year. This year's performance continues the school's dramatic 10-year transformation to one of the city's top-performing high schools.

Cincinnati Bell (NYSE: CBB) has been Taft's corporate partner since 2001 and the Cincinnati Bell/Taft Partnership has earned national recognition for its positive impact on students, teachers, parents, and the community.

"Way to go, Senators! We are very proud of Taft and honored to be part of its success," said Jack Cassidy, president and chief executive officer, Cincinnati Bell. "On behalf of our Cincinnati Bell tutors and all our employees, I offer our heartfelt congratulations to the parents, students, teachers, and administrators at Taft."

Cassidy also congratulated Cincinnati Public Schools for maintaining its "Effective" rating and continuing to be the highest-rated urban district in Ohio.

Ten years ago, Taft and Cincinnati Bell created a unique partnership that would go beyond commitments of money and equipment to involve Cincinnati Bell's leadership and employees. Cincinnati Bell continues to provide about 50 employees per year to tutor Taft students and supports the school through providing technology, such as laptops and wireless phones, to help students learn.

In 2010, Taft was honored by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, making it the first Cincinnati public high school to be named a Blue Ribbon school in 25 years.
