Cards for Troops campaign encourages children to write and decorate cards for soldiers stationed overseas

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Cincinnati Bell invites Greater Cincinnati families to make the holiday season brighter for U.S. military personnel stationed overseas with the launch of its second annual Cards for Troops campaign. From Nov. 9 through Dec. 1, Cincinnati Bell retail stores will have special holiday cards available for children to decorate and write messages to soldiers.

"The holidays can be a difficult time for U.S. military personnel who are stationed overseas so far away from their friends and families," said Jane Weiler, Director of Digital Marketing and e-Commerce at Cincinnati Bell. "The Cards for Troops campaign is a way to help lift their spirits by letting our soldiers know that, despite their physical distance, they are not far from our thoughts."

The cards will be delivered to deployed military as part of care packages put together by the Yellow Ribbon Support Center. The Yellow Ribbon Support Center is a non-profit organization founded by the parents of SSG Keith (Matt) Maupin after he was captured in Iraq in 2004. Since its inception, the Yellow Ribbon Support Center has delivered more than 22,500 packages to U.S. troops. For more information, visit www.yellowribbonsupport.com.

Cincinnati Bell is a strong supporter of U.S. veterans and active military. In addition to contributing to the USO and Yellow Ribbon Support Foundation, the company sponsors a salute to a local military hero at every Cincinnati Reds home game, hosts a VIP Fireworks Party for local families who have lost a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan, and even dedicates the annual Cincinnati Bell/WEBN Fireworks show to those serving in the Armed Forces.
