Cincinnati Bell to Help Raise Money for CancerFree KIDS in September

August 27, 2014

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Cincinnati Bell will mark September, National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, by helping to raise money and awareness for CancerFree KIDS, a local non-profit that supports pediatric cancer research.

Beginning Monday, September 1, for every consumer sale during the month of September, Cincinnati Bell will donate $1 to CancerFree KIDS to help fund pediatric cancer research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is one of the top 3 hospitals in the nation in caring for children and adolescents with cancer.

"At Cincinnati Bell, it's important that we continue to give back to our community whenever and wherever possible," said Ted Torbeck, Cincinnati Bell president and CEO. "This partnership with CancerFree KIDS is another example of how we bring that corporate philosophy to life."

"Most people don't know that more U.S. children die from cancer than any other disease and yet research is severely underfunded," said Ellen Flannery, executive director and founder of CancerFree KIDS. 'We are so grateful to Cincinnati Bell for their ongoing support of CancerFree KIDS and our mission to find new cures for children with cancer. Through this September initiative, we will not only raise awareness within the community, we will also raise funds for a new research grant - research that would not happen if not for their generosity."

About CancerFree KIDS
The mission of CancerFree KIDS is to eradicate cancer as a life-threatening disease in children by funding promising research that might otherwise go unfunded. It provides the seed money for doctors to begin their work on a specific research project - focusing on new, innovative ideas that are the most difficult to get funded.
